PETER ANTRIM KOWALKE
Peter Kowalke's artwork combines playful spontaneity with years of rigorous study, teaching and practice. He works in distinct series which can vary in style, mood and medium. His series: "Earth Maidens," "Hills and Horses," and "Hawaiian HIghlights" each have a distinctive message and style.
"Each work, or horse-- I should say'-- has a unique spirit. Through Peter's mature brush-stroke, these horses emerge as beings alive, instead of mere images on the canvas." (Jessica Brogan, writer, comments on "Hills and Horses.")
Recognized early as an "artist to watch" by the National Foundation for the Advancement of Arts, Peter has had over twenty five professional exhibits, starting at the age of sixteen through his mid-forties. His artwork is in hundreds of collections around the world, including those of Neil Young and John Irving.
Peter loves the multi-cultural blend of Hawaii's culture and shown internationally and in national juried shows. He is a prolific artist, and his enthusiasm has not waned.
"It seems every part of Peter's waking life is geared toward the production or study of art... he is--- what is said of so many, but many times not true--- 'some kind of genius' ---" commented Dan Wingren, Professor and Scholar and Author.
Peter teaches children and adults in his home studio and invites you to come vist and learn more about his classes, Art In SIght.
