MELODY MOORE
Melody Moore has a long career in visual arts. Traveling and living in various places in the West and abroad has influenced and inspired her to develop a wide variety of styles and methods including photography, ceramics, sculpture, stain glass ans well as painting and drawing.
During the 1980's while studying at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, Melody studied with Linus Chow and Dr. Anaviee. Later her involvement with museum collections fed an interest in Art History and research. While studying at the University of Utah, Melody obtained a BA in Art History, BA in Fine Arts, and a Masters degree in Art History, with an emphasis in Asian Art.
Hawaii has always held a place in her heart, which has felt like home to her since she moved here at age sixteen. Now after twenty years of teaching art, ceramics, and art history on the Mainland, she is happy to be living on the Big Island again, in the Kohala Mountains.
"Inspiration for me comes from seeing and feeling Nature. The process of doing Art allows me to be in the moment and become fully present. It is a meditation which gives me peace."
