Ginger Anne Sandell was raised on the Mainland (USA), and traveled to Hawaii in 1974 on vacation. She fell in love with the ocean and the beauty of Hawaii, so she sold all her possessions and moved to the Big Island in 1975. She raised four sons on the island. In 1979 she began painting. She has used several mediums including, pencil, charcoal, water color, acrylics, pen and ink. She works primarily in oil and uses several methods of painting styles such as direct painting, scrumble, drip, and glazing. Ginger is currently enrolled in the Academy of Art University in San Francisco earning a Masters in Fine Art in Painting.

Both of her parents were artistic and she was encouraged from childhood to pursue her talent. Painting is both challenging and fulfilling to her. To Ginger art is the essence of creation and is both tactile and spiritual in nature; she hopes that her art will evoke emotion for the observer thus creating a connection between the art and the patron. She paints in an impressionistic and abstract style to convey mood and atmosphere. She will move into abstraction and figure painting as her studies proceed.

Ginger has been invited to exhibit five paintings in New York at the international Parallax art fair this May, 2013. She has also had exhibits at the Holualoa Foundation for the Arts, East Hawaii Cultural Center, Orchid Mauna Lani, Fireside Gallery in Waimea, Rumleys in the King Kamahemaha Hotel in Kailua Kona, and Living Arts Gallery.
